Bohemia after the Battle of White Mountain, Part 1

This work by the French historian had a significant impact on Czech historical awareness. It continues where Palacký’s synthesis of history, which ended in 1526, left off, recounting historical events up to the late 19th century. The text was made accessiblevailable to the Czech readers through a translation by Jindřich Vančura, who modified the original with numerous additions and omissions to address the lack of ascholarly argument supporting Masaryk's philosophical interpretation construction of Czech history. According to this interpretation, the values established by Hussitism and the Unitas Fratrum reformation played a key role in the beginnings of the national renaissance after the dark age.
