Letter to Kamil Bednář (1942)

19 Mar. 42
Dear Mr. Bednář,
You have honoured me with the kind of poetic and human attention that I would not have dreamed of.
Thank you very much! And I regret that I, as a prose writer, can repay you with such student mischief as is my decorative, artistic first book, of which I still have several copies.
Please judge it with leniency.
And come again! Come - by merely announcing “I’m here!” – into my quiet and silence.
Yours, John
