Letter to Jan Kopecký (1945)
Dear Jan Kopecký,
Thank you for your message. But God is my witness that I am not imposing on you any burden of conscience or considerations. Time, yes time, plays a great role in this matter! We are already (illegible) of these scenes, if we do not retune them for a purely human test. People are starting to get fed up with hearing about war. And maybe it would be good if you sent it to Větrník. They don’t have and can’t have there (illegible) demands for staging and directing. Let’s try, especially if you don’t have at least an 80% chance that it would be undertaken with you.
Season’s greetings and all the best in the new year!
Yours, John
