Fragment of the skull of Karel Hynek Mácha

The anthropological research of the remains of the skeleton carried out at the turn of 1938 and 1939 uncovered new findings that cast doubt over the generally accepted idea of the poet’s fragile physical constitution. Exact measurements revealed Mácha to be a large man, 174 cm tall, with distinctive facial features and a slightly crooked, aquiline nose.
