Aulos Beautiful Book: 30 years of publishing
The exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Aulos publishing house of "beautiful books" presents a cross-section of works by important Czech artists in extraordinary book graphic design combined with major works of Czech and foreign literature.
The visitor of the exhibition has the opportunity to follow the dialogue with the texts of writers such as Zdeněk Sýkora, Adriena Šimotová, Milan Grygar, Stanislav Kolíbal or Květa Pacovská, in collaboration with book graphic designer Zdeněk Ziegler.
The Aulos publishing house in Michalská Street in Prague was founded by Zdeněk Křenek symbolically in the place where the famous publisher V. M. Kramerius. Fifty exceptional publications were published here in limited editions. These represent a production that has become synonymous with beautiful books and has rightly won numerous awards in the competition The Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year, but it has also had a significant impact abroad.
The architectural design of the exhibition was created by Josef Pleskot and Veronika Škardová, the graphic design by Zuzana Lednická and the curator is Zdeněk Freisleben.
The exhibition was accompanied by the publication Knihy Aulos, a part of which bears an original signed serigraph by Stanislav Kolíbal.
On the occasion of the exhibition, the publisher Zdeněk Křenek donated all the titles from his publishing house to the collection of the Memorial of National Literature / Museum of Literature.
