Training in the UK

The first phase of training for selected soldiers assigned to special operations was an intensive offensive combat course held at training centers in Scotland, under the codename STS-25. This nearly month-long preparation aimed to familiarize participants with the methods of sabotage warfare and to build both physical and mental resilience. The training covered engineering, marksmanship, communications, topography, physical conditioning, silent killing techniques, and elements of self-defense. This course served only as an introduction to the broader range of skills required of a future paratrooper. Its purpose was not to select the most capable individuals, but rather to teach foundational skills to as many soldiers as possible. A second course for selected volunteers was held from August 16 to September 12, 1941, in the area surrounding the Cammus Darach and Garramore farms and the Traigh House building near Loch Morar.
